Spring 2009 - Chapter Scholarship Program Application
The Chattanooga Chapter of the Association of Government Accountants offers a scholarship for accounting majors who are currently enrolled or have previously taken the governmental accounting class offered at your institution. The scholarship program is designed to promote interest in governmental accounting and provides $500 to the recipient. The next scholarship will be awarded at the Association's April meeting. The scholarships are awarded based on a combination of the following criteria:
| (35%) Financial Need - the extent the student is paying his/her way through school | |
| (35%) Academic Achievement - GPA in major course of study and overall GPA | |
| (10%) Civic Involvement - applicant's service to community programs and activities | |
| (20%) Required Essay – Attach an essay of no more than 1,000 words that answers or explains the following: |
o Why have you chosen the field of accounting?
o Discuss your career objectives, leadership abilities, and community activities.
o Describe why you feel you deserve this award.
o Describe any circumstances, other than those addressed above, which you feel should be considered when evaluating this application.
Please fill
out the information below and attach the essay and any supporting materials you
desire (résumé, transcripts, recommendations, etc.). Materials should be sent to
the Scholarship Committee Chair and received by March 30, 2009.
